AN ALL GREEN PATH.
THE HOUSES OF THE CYCLOPES ..
Cyclops, one-eyed giants, inhabited many islands in the Mediterranean in very distant times.
Their presence was certainly cumbersome, and not having a reputation as good giants, either they decided to assert themselves on ordinary men by frightening them and killing them, like Homer’s Polyphemus, or they tried not to “attract attention”, inhabiting the woods and infiltrating the dense vegetation.
In Ischia, still penetrating its woods today, it is possible to admire large caves dug into the rock, where once, according to the legend, the likes of Polyphemus lived.
They did not approach the inhabited center, but lived their lives feeding on the surrounding fauna, and occasionally making the earth tremble until the unsuspecting inhabitants of the island continued as if nothing had happened ..
The Teds guide guests on a path inside the dense and most hidden flora of the island, where, surrounded by greenery, it will be possible to admire the wonderful natural caves carved into the rock.
We will follow a path in close contact with nature, and making stops in corners from which fascinating glimpses of the crystalline sea stand out.
We will then reach the ancient church of Santa Maria al Monte, which has always been adored because according to what was narrated, it was the Madonna who saved the inhabitants of the island from the invasion of the Saracens.
Finally we will take part in a tasting in the town of Forio, where the delicious typical and traditional products will be tasted.
