GISELLA AND ARMANDO MEET AGAIN…

Gisella had been standing there in the shop window for a long time, because she was not among the items for sale, only for display. She was the most beautiful of them all, with large hazel eyes of a bright green. The flowers in her hairstyle were stylized and distinctive. Her pale complexion was elegant. The eyes, however, were sad. Her soul was imprisoned and she was alone in that shop window. When Armando arrived, she could hardly believe it. He had overheard Francesco and Maria discussing a change of shop window, in view of the Christmas period.

“Everyone is walking around now, I saw in that other shop a very nice composition. As if they were comrades..”

But when they placed Armando at her side that Sunday morning, she just couldn’t get over it. So, as soon as Francesco had turned around, she had immediately positioned herself in profile in a haughty manner. Armando was handsome, with big black eyes, dark hair and a prominent Sicilian nose that stood out symmetrically in the middle of his face. But Gisella already knew him, perhaps from another life. He had noticed her immediately:

“You are one of those females then, the jealous ones that make us turn into pots” he joked.

“Then I shouldn’t be here either” she replies with an angry tone.

No, I’m joking, but it’s nice to meet you, you’re the most beautiful here. I see you down, but if they keep us here it’s because we’re the best they’ve made.”

Gisella keeps a straight face, but inside she loosens up. At last, she has someone beside her, someone with whom she can share that loneliness. Gisella and Armando are two of the most beautiful Moorish heads ever created, and now reunited, after they had been so in the distant past.

With the wish that everyone can always find their soul by meeting their twin, in every life.

Ceramics

On the Madonie, there is a place where you can create art from dust: it is a workshop that produces ceramics and decorated majolica of different types.

Ceramics

For some years now, the pottery workshop, where the old kiln used to fire the terracotta bricks is located, has been open to those who want to see the craftsman at work, but above all to those who want to get their hands dirty.

The experience involves the processing of clay, the production of tiles and their decoration: we enter a world made of clay to be modeled, of powdered colors, of decorations to be chosen or created by hand.

Ceramics, like majolica itself, have origins dating back to prehistoric times, but the interest in the process that gives birth to these marvelous creations has endured over time: from the choice of clay, to modelling, from drying to firing and finally to glazing and decoration… a process that is undoubtedly fascinating at every stage!

Majolica tiles are a true symbol of Sicilian culture and have always fascinated thanks to the motifs that decorate and color them with an amazing elegance. They have also been chosen by the famous brand D&G as the central element of its ‘Majolica’ collection, made up of elegant clothes with motifs entirely linked to those of Sicilian ceramics.
